It’s  a state

 

Bosnia and Herzegovina (stari and croatian. Bosna i Hercegovina, BiH, serb. Bosna and Hertsegovina, BIH) is a state in the central part of the Balkan Peninsula. It consists of autonomous administrative units of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska and the Brcko District.

It is borders with Croatia on the west and north, with Serbia on the east, with Montenegro to the south-east. It has a small outlet to the Adriatic Sea. The capital is Sarajevo. The total area of the country is 51,1 thousand square km. The population is about 4,02 million. The ethnic composition of the country is very complex, the official languages are bosnian, serbian and croatian.

The "soft" confederation is a confederation  whose members have a high level of autonomy in the political, economic and other spheres of life, according to the constitution.

 

The collective head of state is the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, consisting of three members of the constituent people. The  supreme legislative body of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It consists of two chambers: the chamber of people and the house of representatives.

The supreme executive body is  the Council of Ministers, which consists of 10 ministries: foreign affairs, security, defense, finance, foreign trade and economic relations, transport and communications, civil affairs, human rights and refugees, Justice.

 

 

 

 


 

 

Climate and landscape

 

The climate is temperate continental. There is a wide variety of microclimates associated with the peculiarities of local terrain - even the adjoining sections of the valley may differ significantly from each other on the weather because of the varying topography. The characteristic feature of the local climate is rapidly changing as the local weather during the day, due to different heating of mountain slopes, under sunlight, changing its azimuth and angle of incidence during the day.

 

The average summer temperature in the valleys of 16 to 27 ° C, and up to 10-21 - in the mountainous areas (the average July temperature is 21 ° C in the capital). The temperature is from 0 ° C to -7 ° in winter , respectively (about -1 ° C of january in the capital, but the temperature  can drop to -16 ° C).

 The precipitation may fall of 400 (in the eastern slopes of the mountains) to 1500 (western) mm per year, mostly in the summer and early winter.
